Who is Alex Merced?
Alex Merced is a "Creatarian" activist fighting for educating people on economic, philosophical, and cultural phenomena and how these understandings can be used to push people and institutions in a direction to further solve problems of scarcity, interpersonal hostility, and all around enjoyment of life.
Where did Alex Merced learn all this?
Alexs formal education begins in microcomputing from time at Howell Cheney Vocational School during his high school years. Afterwards, he did undergraduate studies in Popular Culture Studies at Bowling Green State University where he was taught how to apply many Sociological and Anthropological methods to studying the cultural rituals and works of larger "popular cultures".
During 2007, amid the primaries for the presidential elections Alex Merced found himself intrigued by a standout candidate in the republican party named Ron Paul. This intrigue led Alex Merced to shift his thinking from a Progressive Liberal into a state where he spent the next few years doing major self-studying in economics, philosophy, history to find himself falling into a more Libertarian/Anarcho-Capitalist worldview which he specifically calls, Creatarianism, essentially focusing on how creativity enhances quality of life and how institutions can be formed to maximize creativity.

Is Alex Merced an Anarchist? Why does he want to Run for office?
Alex Merced believes that the institutions that a generation grows up with set the motivations, incentives, and dependencies of a generation so while in this case outright abolishment of institutions can help shift the next generation it can also create massive disruptions in the current generation while new institutions are formed to replace functions of the abolished institution.
Although if people are allowed to create alternative institutions (break the monopoly) then much of the burden on current coercive institutions (government/Organized Crime) can be shifted to voluntary institutions (Businesses/Non-profits/Social Groups). The bottom line being that in Alex Merceds views to achieve a voluntary society one must not abolish the state but render it obsolete by shifting the typical demands for a state to a diverse array of voluntary institutions who's diversity breed innovation and manage risk.
So through legislation Alex Merced hopes that he can remove the barriers preventing people from forming competitive institutions in money, education, and more. Also, through legislation Alex Merced can reform the current institutions in way to open up the current cultural dialogue so an institutional shift can occur.
