Who Loves Blogs, I love Blogs
Hey Guys,
Since I covered White Label Social Networks Hosts I though I'd cover another important online service, Blogging. Anyone whos know me, know I believe everyone should blog in some capacity despite how much they feel they have to contribute. It's just obsession with the proliferation of knowledge and enhancing the cultural dialogs.
So while most of the turnkey social network services I described before included blogging ability, which would makes for a great tool to make blogging communities on a specific topic, what if you just are someone who wants quick blog for you to write in. Like my blogs:
Ning Expedition
A blog where I review ning communities based on content, layout, and activity and talk about cool community based trends I notice in the Ning Eco-system
Cause of Freedom - Politics Blog
My Libertarian/Paleo-Conservative leaning blog that primarily covers Austrian economics, Ron Paul, and Libertarian Philosophers
Alex Express! - Poetry Blog
A blog where I write random poetry and similar types of verbal art
Alex's Ad Factory
my marketing blog where I talk about marketing concepts, practices, etc.
Music is Now! - Music Blog
keeping people up to date on the hippest music I'm aware of, why not be informed on music in all shapes, sizes and origins.
Pop Fizzle Drizzle - Essays by Alex Merced
a blog where I posted some cultural essays, it doesn't really get updated since I graduated, but the essays are worth reading so I leave it up.
All my current blogs are hosted by blogger, one of the two super big blogging services. The two big dogs are Blogger and Wordpress for professional blogs. In order to talk about the latest highschool gossip or drama among your friends, Xanga and Livejournal have always been the blogging platforms of choice due to their social features that are conducive to high school drama queens.
Here are some other free blog services you can enjoy, and always make sure to claim and submit your blog to Technorati.com and FeedBurner.com
Wordpress Hosts:
BlogSavy - a pretty decent wordpress host that includes a lot of plug-ins and themes to use in your blog.
Blogates - more wordpress blog hosting, yay
LiveJournal Script hosts:
aeonity - if you've been on livejournal you know the deal
deadjournal - livejournals evil counterpart is still around after many many years
Other:
Blog.com - so how more direct a domain can a blog service have...
blogomonster.com - free blogs, what else is their to say, can you ever blog enough
BlogEasy - really basic and stripped down blogging
tBlog - Social Blogging, similar livejournal but seems to be using it's own script
Atom5 - a very web 1.0 looking blog service, at least to me
today - not only a blog host, bur a blog directory as well, ugly but dual use makes it useful to all bloggers
MyTypes - more social bloggingness
CrabLog - Basic straight to the point blogging, why not, apparently even there logo sucks
Supersized - blogging powers on the s9y php script
Blogs-Blogs - another blog hosting service
there are endless amounts more, here is another list from my favorite web 2.0 blog, Mashable.com.
Hopefully I've accomplished the following:
- given you unnecessarily long list of blog hosts, when your probably just gonna use wordpress.com or just use the blog that comes with your myspace account (boo)
- given you examples of what can be done with blogs by viewing the many topics in my blogs, and in process promoted my blogs
- got you motivated to start a blog where you'll talk about mundane things like that guy who cut you off, or that lady who looked at you the wrong way cause you spoke ill of desperate housewives.
